Obelisk Terms of Service

Effective date: November 1, 2026

These terms govern your use of the Obelisk Discord bot and its web dashboard ("Obelisk", "the service"), operated by the Obelisk team ("we", "us"). By adding Obelisk to a server, using its commands, interacting with it, or signing in to the dashboard, you agree to these terms and to the Obelisk Privacy Policy. If you don't agree, don't use Obelisk.

1. What Obelisk does

Obelisk is a moderation and server-protection bot. It can scan messages for spam images, invite links, blocked words, and malicious or adult links. It can screen and verify new members, run honeypot (trap) channels, back up and restore server structure, handle lockdowns, and take moderation actions automatically, all as configured by each server's administrators.

2. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old, or the minimum age required to use Discord in your country if that is higher, and you must be allowed to use Discord. You must follow Discord's Terms of Service and Community Guidelines. If you use Obelisk on behalf of a community or organization, you confirm that you have authority to do so.

3. Server administrators' responsibilities

If you add Obelisk to a server or configure it, you:

4. Acceptable use

You may not use Obelisk to:

5. Automated moderation, mistakes, and appeals

Obelisk makes automated decisions using pattern matching, image similarity, link reputation lists, and server-defined rules. Automated systems make mistakes. Legitimate messages or users can be flagged (false positives), and harmful content can be missed (false negatives). In particular:

Each server decides what Obelisk does in that server. The server's staff, not the Obelisk team, are responsible for moderation outcomes in their community. If you think you were actioned by mistake, use the appeal link Obelisk sends you, or the dashboard's appeals page, if the server has appeals turned on. Otherwise, contact that server's staff. Appeals are reviewed by the server's staff, not by us. We cannot reverse actions in servers we don't run.

Obelisk is a tool to help protect a server. It does not guarantee protection against spam, raids, compromised accounts, or "nukes", and it does not replace human moderation.

6. Premium features and payments

Some features may be limited to paid tiers (premium or VIP). We may also grant tiers manually, offer each server a one-time free 7-day trial, or keep features free for everyone. Features in each tier may change.

7. Your content and our rights

You keep ownership of anything you provide (such as reference images, settings, and appeal text). You give us permission to store and process it only to operate Obelisk for you, as described in the Privacy Policy. Obelisk, its code, name, and branding belong to the Obelisk team. These terms don't give you any rights to them beyond using the service.

8. Availability and changes to the service

Obelisk is provided as is and may be unavailable, slow, or changed at any time. Features may be added, changed, or removed. We may limit usage to protect the service or comply with Discord's API limits.

9. Termination

10. Disclaimer of warranties

To the extent allowed by law, Obelisk is provided "as is" and "as available", without warranties of any kind, express or implied. This includes warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, and non-infringement. We don't promise that Obelisk will be error-free, uninterrupted, secure, or that it will catch or correctly judge any particular content or user.

11. Limitation of liability

To the extent allowed by law, the Obelisk team is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages. We are also not liable for lost data, lost members, lost revenue, or damage to a community. This includes damage resulting from automated moderation actions, false positives or false negatives, backups or restores, lockdowns, outages, or third-party services (including Discord). Our total liability for any claim relating to Obelisk is limited to the greater of (a) what you paid for Obelisk in the 12 months before the claim, or (b) US $50. Some places don't allow these limits, so they apply only as far as the law permits.

12. Indemnity

If you use Obelisk in a way that breaks these terms or the law, or that harms someone else (including through how you configure it in your server), you agree to cover the Obelisk team's reasonable costs from resulting claims, to the extent allowed by law.

13. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by the laws of the State of Michigan, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules. Disputes will be handled by the state or federal courts located in Michigan, unless the law where you live requires otherwise. Before filing a claim, please contact us first so we can try to resolve it informally.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. When we do, we'll change the effective date above. For significant changes, we'll give notice through the dashboard or the bot's support channels. If you keep using Obelisk after changes take effect, you accept the updated terms.

15. Other

These terms, together with the Privacy Policy, are the whole agreement between you and us about Obelisk. If any part is unenforceable, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a term right away, we can still enforce it later. Obelisk is not affiliated with or endorsed by Discord Inc.

16. Contact and reporting

To report a bug, misuse of Obelisk, or a violation of these terms or Discord's rules, or to ask a question, contact us. We review reports and take appropriate action.
