/ban & /unban

Ban someone permanently, for a set time, or as a soft ban to clear their messages, and lift bans with a logged reason.

/ban

/ban user reason [duration] [soft] [delete_days] [dm] [proof] [proof_url]

Option	Type	Description
`user`	User or ID	A mention or a user ID. Works for someone who isn’t in the server
`reason`	Text	Why you are taking the action. Saved on the case and posted to the moderation log
`duration` optional	Text	Makes it a temporary ban, for example `30m`, `2h` or `5d`. Omit for a permanent ban
`soft` optional	True/False	Ban and immediately unban to clear their recent messages
`delete_days` optional	Integer	0–7. Days of their messages to delete
`dm` optional	True/False	Message the member about the action first. If the DM fails, the action still goes ahead
`proof` optional	Attachment	A screenshot or file kept with the case as evidence
`proof_url` optional	Text	A link to evidence (must start with http:// or https://)

A temporary ban lifts automatically when it expires. Obelisk checks about every minute and keeps the timer through restarts. The automatic unban is logged as its own case.
A soft ban removes the member and their messages but lets them rejoin.
soft and duration can’t be used together; Obelisk rejects the command.

`/ban user:@Spammer reason:Posting scam links duration:7d dm:True`	Bans for 7 days after DMing them the reason; the ban lifts on its own.
`/ban user:123456789012345678 reason:Known raider`	Bans an account by ID before it can join.
`/ban user:@Bot123 reason:Spam bot soft:True delete_days:1`	Soft-bans to wipe the last day of spam; they can rejoin.
`/ban user:@Name reason:Threats in DMs proof_url:https://imgur.com/a/abc123`	Permanent ban with a link to evidence.
`/ban user:@Name reason:Repeated NSFW after warnings delete_days:7 proof:screenshot.png`	Permanent ban, clears a week of messages and attaches a screenshot.

Who can use it: Server owner, Administrator, Manage Server, or a member or role granted the mod_ban permit, or members with Ban Members.

/unban user_id reason

Example	What it does
`/unban user_id:123456789012345678 reason:Appeal accepted`	Lifts the ban and logs the case.
`/unban user_id:987654321098765432 reason:Banned the wrong account`	Undoes a mistaken ban.

Who can use it: Server owner, Administrator, Manage Server, or a member or role granted the mod_ban permit, or members with Ban Members.

Enable Developer Mode in Discord (User Settings → Advanced), then right-click a user and choose Copy User ID to get an ID.
